Jan de Jager was born on July 22, 1959, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The son of Dutch immigrants, he grew up speaking three languages: Dutch at home, English at school, and Spanish everywhere else. Later on he picked up German, French and Portuguese, as well as Latin and Greek during his studies at the University of Buenos Aires. He has published over ten books including novels, short stories, poems and translations. He currently resides in Brussels, Belgium.
